The first step is to get your NY learner permit. you must present at motor vehicles in New York: proof of name, proof of Date of Birth and your social security card.the second step is to come and do the prelicensing course (5 hour class NY). then you go and take your Road Test.

In addition to the learner permit restrictions that apply to everyone, the Graduated License Law places restrictions on drivers under 18 years of age who have a junior learner permit or junior driver license (Class DJ, MJ or DJMJ). The restrictions depend on whether you have a junior learner permit or a junior driver license where and when you will be driving in New York State If you do not comply with these restrictions, your junior learner permit or junior driver license could be suspended or revoked for 60 days.

On the day of your driving test, it is important that you make a good first impression on your driving examiner. What you wear likely won’t cause you to fail or pass your driving test, but dressing appropriately won’t hurt your chances of passing the test.Flexible Clothing: During your driving test, you will be doing plenty of moving around in your seat. You will be looking over your shoulder and twisting the upper half of your body.Appropriate Shoes: The footwear you choose for your driving test is the most important clothing decision you’ll make. The team at Jessi Driving School highly recommends wearing flat shoes without a heel. However, the shoes should feel secure around your feet and should not slip or slide off while driving. Avoid wearing high-heeled shoes, flip-flops or sandals.
